sun shining day

beyond closed eyes
the world awakens
dew covers the grass
a splinter of sun
can now be seen
birds and crickets
awaken and chirp
the eyelids open
pull back the blinds
outside is bright, clear, and blue
i rush to get ready
pull on some clothes
and tie my shoes
i run to open the door
and outside it is raining.
